Gluck, Oscar W. (21 March 1907-19 March 1981)

NEILLSVILLE-- Services will be Saturday at Gesche Funeral Home for Oscar W. Gluck. The Masonic services will be conducted by Wayne Grap. Burial will be in the Neillsville Cemetery, with military rites by Haugen-Richmind Post 73, American Legion.

Mr. Gluck, 73, formerly of 109 W. Seventh St., died Thursday at Memorial Home, where he had resided the past several months.

A retired U. S. Army Colonel, he was born March 21, 1907 in Granton. He attended Neillsville High School and graduated in 1931 from Carroll College.

He taught school in South Milwaukee and also worked at Wabeno a number of years before entering the Army on August 21, 1941. He served in Europe and was discharged as a major May 16, 1946. He later obtained the rank of colonel in the Army reserves.

He worked at various jobs here and owned and operated Gluck's Shoe Store many years. he was a member of Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post 73, Wilson-Heintz VFW Post 2341, Neillsville Lodge No. 163, Green and accepted Masons and Neillsville Lion Club.

He was instrumental in obtaining appearances of several military music groups, including the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus and bands from the Navy and Air Force.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia; a son, Robert, address unknown; and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Hemp of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Emma Olson of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Aleda Radtie of Wausau.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. August (Frieda Loeffler) Gluck are deceased.
