Haugen, Nina K. (Marriage – 5 June 1976)
The Neillsville United Church of Christ was the setting Saturday June 5, for the
wedding of Miss Nina K. Haugen of Columbus and Dr. Michael F. Sweeney of
Madison. The Rev. Gary Clark officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony for the daughter
of mr. and Mrs. Hiram Haugen of Neillsville and the son of Mr. and Mrs. James
Sweeney of Waukesha.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a white floor-length
gown of silk organza over polyester satin. She held a bouquet of butterscotch
daisies, pink roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath, and wore an arrangement of
the same flowers in her hair.
Dawn McCarthy of Madison and Ken Kruezer were the couple’s attendants. Ms.
McCarthy was dressed in a floor-length gown of floral print over white and
carried a bouquet with butterscotch daisies predominating.
Guests were seated by Herman Zech, North Freedom, and Dr. Roger Peckham,
Madison.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Bali Hai Supper Club, with
dinner served at 7 p.m. and dancing beginning at 9 p.m.
The bride is a 1974 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and is
employed as a medical technologist. Her husband attended West Point from
1968-70, MIT, at Boston from 1970-72, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
from 1972-76. An MD, he is presently doing residency in pediatrics.
The newlyweds will honeymoon in the Rockies and make their home in Columbia, Mo.
