Laager, Charles (29 August 1910-4 April 1981)

THORP-- Charles Laager, 70, of 307 W. Franklin St. died Saturday at Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley.

He was born in Neillsville to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob (Arvilla Jacobson) Laager and attended Neillsville area schools. On June 18, 1947, he and Clara Marie Reider were married.

They lived in Neillsville a short time before moving to Thorp area to farm. They retired in 1970 and moved to the city of Thorp. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John of Thorp and Donald ob Boyd; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Frier of West Bend, Mrs. Harry (Charlotte) Leiske of Stoughton, Mrs. Melba Swobboda of Phoenix, Mrs. John (June) Baum of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Annie Lenz of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, John of California and Fred of Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Bertha) Sherman of Merrillan and Mrs. Gladys John of Black River Falls.

The funeral will be Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert W. Olson is to officiate and burial will be in East Thorp Cemetery.
