Eslinger, Mr./Mrs. Carl (Golden – 9 June 1976)
Neillsville area residents since 1930, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eslinger of Rt.2,
observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 5, with an open house
and dance at the American Legion Hall.
Carl Eslinger and the former Stella Johanek were married June 9, 1926, at St.
Peter’s Lutheran Church in Mishicot by the Rev. Edward Zell. Their attendants
were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Johanek, Mrs. Paul Seelow, Mrs. Alvin Lutz, Mrs. Richard
Plansky, Clarence Staral, Charley Johanek and Edward Johanek. Charley and Edward
Johanek are now deceased.
Mrs. Eslinger was born in Kewaunee County on November 11, 1908 and attended
schools there. She worked in the Two Rivers aluminum factory and also in Chicago
before moving to this area and has been employed as a nurse’s aide at Memorial
Home for many years. Mr. Eslinger was born February 28, 1904, Manitowoc County
where he received his education. He, too, worked in an aluminum factory, and
farmed formerly in Kewaunee County. The couple came to Clark County in 1930 and
have farmed here since that time.
The Eslingers are parents of a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Hilliard of Rt. 2
Neillsville. Another daughter, Joyce Eslinger Pozega, is deceased. There are
three grandchildren, Steve and Dennis Pozega and Kevin Hilliard, and three
great-grandchildren, Raye Ann, Steve and Tammy Pozega.
People attending the anniversary observance came from Virginia, Chicago, Il.,
White Bear Lake, Mn., Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Mishicot, Oshkosh, Green Bay,
Kewaunee, Algoma, Chippewa Falls, Alma Center, Black River Falls, Marshfield,
Stratford, Loyal, Greenwood, Chili, Granton, Humbird and Neillsville.
