Orth, Conrad Sr. (31 DEC 1883 – 18 SEP 1971)
Conrad Orth Sr., 87, of Colby, died late Saturday evening at his home. He had
been in ill health the past year.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Rev. Francis Rushman officiating.
Mr. Orth was born in Colby, December 31, 1883, and was married June 16, 1908 to
Anna Tesmer at St. Mary’s Church.
He lived in Colby his entire life, and as a young man worked in a lumber camp.
He later operated a soft drink bottling works in Colby, and worked for many
years at the Colby cheese Box Company. He also served as city assessor for 22
years, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Orth is survived by his wife, three sons, Conrad Jr., Colby, Joseph,
Swanton, Ohio; Emory, Metamora, Illinois; four daughters, Mrs. Vern (Cioleta)
Luepke, Aledo, Illinois, Mrs. Earl (Gertrude Jager, Forreston, Illinois, Mrs.
Alice Frook Fond du Lac, Mrs. Edward (Jeanette) Chamberland, Manmouth, Illinois,
and by two sisters, Mrs. Paul Tesmer, Colby; and Mrs. Ted Steinwand, Colby.
Two sons, four sisters and five brother preceded him in death.
