Wasserburger, Leo J. (18 October 1899 - 19 April 1981)

NEILLSVILLE-- Leo J. Wasserburger, 81, of 1202 Prospect St. died Sunday at Memorial Home.

The funeral will be Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Joseph N. Henseler officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Wasserburger was born here October 18, 1899 to Charles and Mary (Zeller) Wasserburger and graduated from Neillsville High School.

He began working for Charles Wasserburger Co. store here in 1919. Following the death in 1959 of the store's owner, Katie Wasserburger, he took over ownership and ran the store until ill health forced his retirement in July 1980.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Catholic Knights Society.

His marriage to the former Pearl Wiesjahn took place July 31, 1934 at Montello. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Joann) Bush of Mosinee; a son, James Wasserburger of Neillsville; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Sherman of Mount Calvary, Mrs. Tillie Chadwick and Mrs. Clara Kessler, both of Neillsville; one brother, Henry Wasserburger of Neillsville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
