Sossaman, Mr. / Mrs. Wallace (Gold – 8 OCT 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sossaman were honored guests in observance of their 50th
wedding anniversary, October 9, 1971.
A dinner for the immediate family was held at the Colby Methodist Church, and an
open house was held at the Colby City Hall.
The Sossaman’s were married October 8, 1921 in Colby. The Rev. Crow conducted
the ceremony. The attendants at their wedding were Mrs. Kurt Troebs, San
Bernardino, California, and Archie Fraser, Rothschild, but illness prevent their
attending the celebration.
Mrs. Florence (Tessmer) Sossaman was born in Colby in 1903, is a charter member
of the VFW Auxiliary, and lists knitting, crocheting and baking as her hobbies.
She has two sisters, Mrs. Axel (Helena) Anderson, Sun City, California, and Mrs.
Ernest (June) Passehl Jr., Whittier, California, and a brother, Floyd Tessmer,
deceased.
Mr. Sossaman was born in 1900 in Clarion, Iowa, and he enjoys making and carving
children’s toys, hunting and fishing.
Mr. and Mrs. Sossaman are member of the Methodist Church of Colby, and are
parents of six sons, Floyd, Hales Corners; Darrel, Abbotsford; Claude, Unity;
Herman, Norwalk, California; Douglas, Sierra Vista; Ralph, Abbotsford; and two
daughters, Mrs. Ray (Phyllis Joy) Kestelvot, Fullerton, California, and Mrs.
Kenneth (Dixie) Ingersoll Jr., Colby.
They have nineteen grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and two
step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sossaman retired in 1966. He worked as a printer in Bessemer, Michigan, and
in Medford. For 48 years he worked at the Tribune-Phonograph in Colby.
