Collins, John U. (6 June 1895 - 26 June 1981)

DORCHESTER — John U. Collins, 86, Dorchester, died today at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County.

Services will be Monday at Maurina Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in the Stetsonville Public Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Collins was born June 6, 1895 in the town of Deer Creek and attended Stetsonville area schools. He married Raymonda Pichon June 30, 1919 in France.


He served in World War I in the U.S. Army in France. He farmed in the town of Deer Creek from 1919 to 1973 and then moved to Dorchester.

He was a member of Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post 519 of Stetsonville and Dorchester Senior Citizens.


He and his wife observed their 60th wedding anniversary in June 1979. She survives.

Other survivors include two brothers, Lloyd of Wisconsin Rapids, and Willard of Owen; and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Edwards of Bessemer, Michigan., and Mrs. Hazel Marion and Mrs. Arthur Albrecht, both of Medford.


He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
