Conkey, James V. (4 July 1911 – 1 August 1976)

James V. Conkey, 65, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday, August 1, at Memorial Hospital. Mr. Conkey died suddenly at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Nordin of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Born July 4, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo., to Mr. and Mrs. James Conkey, he received his education in the Kansas City area. He moved to Chicago where he worked in the hotel business and later was employed by Pan American Airlines and Air France as manager in their Chicago offices. After that Mr. Conkey worked as a travel agent and was president and owner of All Tours Travel Systems, Inc., of Chicago at the time of his death. He was a member of the American Society of Travel Agents.

His marriage to the former Victoria Heighes took place September 8, 1956, in Chicago.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three step-children, James Ombrello and Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ann) Argall of Ishpeming, Mi., and Margaret Ombrello of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. George (Minna) Derry of Huntington Beach, Ca., and mrs. William (Elizabeth) Schroff of McLean, Va.; two brothers, Charles Conkey of Azusa, Ca., and Ted Van Alen of LaVerne, Ca.; and nine grandchildren.

Conkey, James V. (4 July 1911 – 1 August 1976)

Funeral services were held August 4 from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for James V. Conkey, 65, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died August 1 at his home. The Rev. Ronald Nordin of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated, and burial followed in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ellis Stoll, Gary Johnson, Mike Kreiner, Judge Michael Brennan, Darwin Graves and Ted Janicki.

Mrs. Mary Heineck was the organist.
