Prock, Harold M. (5 March 1915 – 9 August 1976)
Harold M. Prock, 61, of Neillsville, succumbed Monday, August 9, at his home to
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a rare disease better known as “Lou Gehrig’s
disease.” Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) morning at 10 a.m.
from St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
The body of Harold Prock was to lie in state from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, where a Knights of Columbus rosary was to be
recited at 7:30 p.m. and a Christian wake service was scheduled for 8 p.m.
Born March 5, 1915, in the Town of Weston to Linus and Agnes Quast Prock, he
attended the Globe Grade School and Neillsville High School. After completing
his formal education, Harold worked for his father in the Globe Store. His
marriage to the former Pearl Hansen took place May 8, 1937, in Neillsville. At
that time, he was employed at the store.
He then worked at and managed the Quinnell Fur Farm for three years before
returning to Globe to operate the store with his father for seven years.
Thereafter, the Procks moved to Neillsville where they owned and operated Procks’
Northside Store for 23 years. The store was sold in 1973 and Mr. Prock retired
because of failing health.
Mr. Prock was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of the
Clark County Board, of the Neillsville police and fire commission, the county
civil defense unit, and the national and state grocers’ association. He was an
avid sportsman and outdoorsman.
Survivors besides his wife, include Maynard Prock of Bettendorf, Ia., Mrs. Gene
(Caroline) O’Brien of New Berlin, Michael, Milton and Mary Prock at home; two
sisters, Mrs. James (Lucille) McConnell of Greenwood and Mrs. John (Delores)
McKenzie of Bettendorf, Ia., and six grandchildren.

Prock, Harold M. (5 March 1915 – 9 August 1976)
Funeral services were held August 12 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville for Harold M. Prock, 61, of Neillsville, who died at his home August
9. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated, and burial followed in the parish
cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Bergemann, Harold Langreck, Dan Patey, Bert
Schultz, Herman Hagedorn and Edgar Tews. Honorary pallbearers were Louis
Kessler, Richard Tibbett, Gene Ross, Eddie Holub, LeRoy Marshall and Willis Volz.
St. Mary’s choir sand “Keep in Mind,” “Hear Oh Lord,” “Shepherd of Souls,” “Take
Our Bread,” “Alleluia! The Strife Is O’er,” and “Mother Dear Oh Pray for Me.”
Mrs. Glenn Short was the organist.
