Koeppen, Gerald (1950? – 23 NOV 1971)

Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, 1971 at Sheboygan for Army PFC Gerald L. Koeppen, who died of accidental asphyxiation in a parked car early Tuesday.

Services for PFC Koeppen, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Koeppen, 1432 N. 43rd Street, Sheboygan, were held at Ballhorn Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Grant C. Quill, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was made in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

PFC Koeppen had been home on furlough from Fort Benning, Georgia, Enroute to Ft. Lewis, Washington, from where he was to depart for a tour of duty in Korea.

Surviving are his parents, two brothers, Larry of Sheboygan and Robert at Home; two sisters, Mrs. William Westera of Sheboygan, and Debra at home, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kading of Sheboygan.

Those attending the service from Colby were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zassenhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vrana, Mrs. Wesley Frome, Miss Susan Frome, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Podevels and Gerhardt Podevels.
