Koch, Rev. Charles A. (7 JUN 1924 - 22 OCT 2013)

Rev. Charles A Koch, age 89 of Sheboygan, went to his eternal home on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Morningside Health Center in Sheboygan.  He was born in Beechwood, WI, on June 7, 1924, the son of the late Arthur and Emma (Lierman) Koch.

He attended local schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1942.  On June 2, 1946, Charles was united in marriage to Shirley Wetzel at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth.  Charles attend Mission House College and Seminary (Lakeland College) and graduated in 1948. He was ordained in St. John’s United Church of Christ, Beechwood, in June of 1948.

Charles served several churches in Rice Lake, Greenwood, New Holstein, and Sheboygan from 1970 until his retirement in 1989. Charles has served on the Long-Range Planning Committee of the Wisconsin Conference, U.C.C., Northeast Wisconsin Association, U.C.C. Division on Church and Ministry, the Mission Education Committee, and the Nominating Committee.

He was a member and former officer of the Sheboygan County Ministerial Association, a former member of the Sheboygan Kiwanis Club and Night Chaplin at St. Nicholas Hospital. Charles was also a member of Sheboygan County Audubon Society and a Red Cross Volunteer. He enjoyed reading and watching and feeding the birds.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Sheboygan; three children, Emmy Lu (David) Reiser, of Huffman, TX. Charles Jr. (Kate)Koch, of Tucson, AZ. Linda (Dan) Durocher, of Coleman, WI; seven grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjory (Earl) Jochimsen, of Kohler, Marlene (Jon) Neidhold, of Wisconsin Rapids and a brother, Albert (Myrtle) Sauter, of Sheboygan Falls.  He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorraine.

A funeral service for Rev. Charles A. Koch will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11 am at Grace United Church of Christ, 500 School St., Kohler with Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9 am until the time of service at 11 am. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
