Marquardt, Meta E. (9 DEC 1892 – 4 SEP 1965)

Funeral services for Mrs. Meta Elsie Marquardt, 72, route 2, Athens, were held Saturday, September 4, 1965 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan. The Rev. Ferdinand Timler officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.

Mrs. Marquardt died Saturday, September 4, 1965 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kalepp, route 2, Athens. She had been living with her daughter of the past four months.

Mrs. Marquardt was born Meta Elsie Bahn December 9, 1892, in Sheboygan County. She came to the Green Grove area of Clark County at the age of four, with her parents. On June 28, 1916 she was married to Fred Marquardt at the Green Grove Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the town of Mayville for three years, then lived in Abbotsford for one year. They moved to a farm in the Town of Bern in 1920, where they lived until the spring of 1965. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Ladies’ Aid, and the Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her husband, Fred; one son, Donald Marquardt, Brookfield; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Dorothy) Schultz, route 1, Athens, Mrs. Edward (Marion) Kalepp, route 2, Athens, and Mrs. Merle (Mary Lou) Ketelhohn, Mayville, and 18 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
