Engel, Jacquelyn Marie (Marriage – 7 August 1976)
Students at the university of Wisconsin-Madison, Miss Jacquelyn Marie Engel and
Ronald Allen Gosse, were married August 7 a St. John’s Lutheran Church in
Withee. The Rev. Douglas Groenewald officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony for the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Engel, Rt. 2 Withee, and the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Gosse, Rt. 1 Owen.
A reception and dinner at the home of the bride’s parents preceded a wedding
dance at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.
Venise and point d’esprit lace adorned the bride’s sleeveless, empire-waist,
A-line gown fashioned with a stand-up collar and Watteau train. Her fingertip
veil was held by a matching fabric and lace crown. She carried a cascade
arrangement of white phalaenopsis orchids and stephanotis with greenery as she
was presented in marriage by her mother and father.
Rita Nordlof, Withee, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor, while Judy
Gosse of Owen, Cheryl Mertens of Boyd, Rachel Bruger of Curtiss and Jenifer
Barlow of Libertyville, Il., were the bridesmaids. They wore white and blue
plaid knit sundresses, belted at the waistline, and white hats scarfed in blue
chiffon. Light blue, dark blue and white pompon daisies formed their bouquets.
Serving as bestman was Jerome Kolpanen, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Doug
Gosse of Appleton, Ed Gosse, Jr., of Des Plains, Il., David Gosse of Owen and
Gary Kalburg of Owen. Sherman Gosse, Owen, and Ronald Engel, Wheaton, Il., acted
as ushers.
Michael Gosse was the ringbearer and Cindy Gosse, the flower girl.
The bride graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1975 and studied a year at
William Woods College, Fulton, Mo. Her husband, a 1970 Owen-Withee High School
graduate, attended UW-Stevens Point for three and one-half years. Upon their
return from a camping trip to Canada, the newlyweds will live at 5164 Anton Dr.
in Madison where they will attend the university.
