Stock, Edward H. (26 NOV 1892- 10 SEP 1965)
Funeral services for Edward Herman Stock, 72, Abbotsford, were held Tuesday,
September 14, 1965 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Leroy Urman
officiated, and burial was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements
were attended to by the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.
Mr. Stock died Friday, September 10, 1965 at the home of his son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anderson, in the town of Colby.
Edward Stock was born November 26, 1892 in the town of Colby, where he attended
local schools. He was married June 21, 1916 to the Former Alma Laach at St.
Peter’s Lutheran Church at Dorchester. The couple farmed in the town of Colby
until 1949, when he built a home in Abbotsford. They had lived there ever since.
Mr. Stock began selling insurance in 1940, forming the Stock Insurance Agency.
The agency was purchased by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Anderson, in 1960, and continues as Stock-Anderson Agency. At the time of his
death he was vice-president of the McMillan Grange Fire Insurance Company. He
had also served as an appraiser for the U.S. Veterans Administration, as well as
several terms on the Abbotsford Village Board, a rural school board, and as
treasurer of the Dill Creek Cooperative Cheese Factory in the town of Colby. He
was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, where he served as an elder.
Survivors include his wife, Alma; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Lois) Anderson,
Abbotsford; one brother, Otto Stock, Loyal; three sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Emma)
Frome, Colby, Mrs. Walter (Ella) Jungerberg of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Henry (Herta)
Reeves, Mancelona, Michigan, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Warren.
