Hauser, Elizabeth “Betty” (25 December 1914 – 18 August 1976)
Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville for Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Hauser, 61, of Neillsville, who died
Wednesday, August 18, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield following a
lingering illness. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated, and burial followed in
the parish cemetery. The body of Mrs. Hauser was in state at the Georgas-Gesche
Funeral Home, where the Rosary was recited Friday evening.
Mrs. Hauser, the daughter of George H. and Selma Lakowski Shock, was born
December 25, 1914, in Stanley and was educated at schools in Withee and
Neillsville. Upon completing her education, she worked at Weidenhoff’s in
Neillsville and at various local restaurants.
Her marriage to Henry J. Hauser took place July 20, 1937, in Neillsville. Mrs.
Hauser worked for a year in Florida while her husband was stationed there during
WWII, then returned to Neillsville to spend the rest of her life here. Mr.
Hauser died in January of 1965. Mrs. Hauser was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church and of its P.C.C.W.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Seversen of Merrillan; and three
brothers, Ellsworth Shock of Neillsville, Richard Shock of Myrtle Creek, Or.,
and Frederick Shock of Menomonie.
Pallbearers were Leland Northup, Cal Swenson, Jim Horswill, Ray Oldham, Glenn
Thompson and Pete McCammant. Mrs. Glenn Short was accompanist for the choir of
St. Mary’s.

Christ Sorensen, Merrillan; Richard Shock, Myrtle Creek, Or.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Shock and Mrs. Tom Munisch and daughter, Elizabeth, Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs.
Ellsworth Shock, Jr., Grafton; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Frei and
Daughter, Deana, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Frei, Mrs. Michael Frei and Mrs.
John O’Brian and son, Jason, Whitehall; Mrs. Richard Brooks and son, Randy,
Morris, Il.
