Rosandich, Steve (1 January 1881 – 24 August 1976)
Steve Rosandich, a resident of the Marshfield Convalescent Home and formerly of
the Town of Sherwood, died in Marshfield early Tuesday morning, August 24, at
the age of 95. Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) morning at 11
o’clock from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, with the Rev. Lawrence Berger
officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery at Bakerville.
A rosary service was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gilbertson Funeral
Home in Granton where the body of Mr. Rosandich was in state. Friends could call
there from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and may also call at the church for one hour
before the services.
Born January 1, 1881, in Yugoslavia, Mr. Rosandich came to the United States at
about the age of 16. His marriage to the former Katherine Mazarr took place
December 31, 1913, in West Allis. He worked for the railroad for a time, and in
1914 moved to a farm in the Town of Sherwood.
Mr. Rosandich served on the Audubon School board for approximately 25 years,
served as a Town supervisor for 12 years, and had also been a director of the
Neillsville Milk Products Coop. His wife preceded him in death on November 14,
1951.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Rose) Bymers of Marshfield, Mrs.
Norbert (Mary) Barten of Granton, Mrs. Alvin (Anna) Bartell of New Berlin, Mrs.
Lawrence (Helen) Schultz of Granton and Mrs. Rueben (Amanda) Gliniecki of
Stratford; eight sons, Joseph of Granton, Michael of Milwaukee, John of
Oconomowoc, Steve of Milwaukee, Tom of Oak Creek, Louie of Wisconsin Rapids,
Paul of Lodi and Nick of Mason City, Ia.; and 62 grandchildren and 25
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, John of West Allis.
