Ouimette, William L. (15 MAR 1875 – 14 SEP 1965)
Funeral services for William L. Ouimette, who died September 14, 1965 at his
home at Park Falls, were held September 16 at the Novitzke Funeral Chapel there.
The Rev. Alfred Pratt officiated, and burial was made on the Nola Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Byhie, Robert Ditko, Vernon Hughes, Earl Miller, Ernest
Reno and Gerald Robbins.
Mr. Ouimette was born at Abbotsford March 15, 1878, and graduated from Colby
High School in 1895. On July 29, 1905, he was married at Abbotsford to the
former Maryette Merwin, who survives. The couple lived at Westboro one year, and
then moved to the home he had homesteaded east of Park Falls.
In 1927 they bought a home in Park Falls, where Mrs. Ouimette is residing. He
was employed at the Flambeau Paper Co. until 1942, when he was injured.
The couple observed their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. There were
no children.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. David Johnson and Mrs. Dewey Hutchinson,
Minneapolis, Mrs. Nellie Bushey, Spooner, and Mrs. Vern Camer, Wittier,
California, and two brothers, Charles of Tomahawk and Floyd of Fling, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Attending the funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Johnson, Mr. and Mrs.
Dewey Hutchinson, Mrs. Bushey, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ouimette, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Ouimette and Tim Ouimette, Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Hennlich, Curtiss, Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Merwin, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loucks and Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Loucks of
Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn Loucks of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Wescott, Loretta.
