Woodkey, LaVern D. (15 May 1916 - 21 October 1981)
LaVern D. Woodkey, 65, Marshfield, formerly of Wausau died Wednesday in a
Marshfield Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1916, in Clark County, the son of the late Max and Berta
Woodkey.
He attended Clark County schools and lived in Veefkind area until 1939 when he
moved to Marshfield where he was employed by Roddis Plywood, and later Felker
Brothers Manufacturing. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and
then returned to Marshfield where he was employed as a mechanic and auto body
repairman at Trossen. He then moved to Texas where he was employed by Gulf Oil
Company until 1963 when he moved to Massachusetts where he lived until 1977.
From there he returned to Marshfield and then to Wausau where he lived until
returning to Marshfield about a month ago.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter; a brother, Roger Woodkey, Marshfield;
a sister, Mrs. Rudy (Evelyn) Vetter, Marshfield; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at the Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Ronald
Jansen of Immanuel Church, Marshfield, will officiate and burial will be in the
Loyal Lutheran Cemetery, Loyal.
