Miller, Ralph M. (30 May 1911 - 12 August 1981)

Ralph M. Miller, 70, Route 2, Stanley, town of Taft, died today at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been a patient there since July 18.

He was born May 30, 1911 in the town of Longwood, Clark County, and grew up in the Owen-Withee area. He married Charlotte Stapel February 24, 1934. She died August 20, 1973. After his marriage, he farmed in the Owen-Withee area and was employed by Will Implement Co., Owen, as a salesman.

He married Dorothy Romanowski January 30, 1973 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, and they had lived in the town of Taft since.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and on the Superior Diocesan Council. He was supervisor for the town of Taft, a member of the Gilman Rural Fire Department and a project leader for the Poplar Grove 4-H Club.

Survivors include his second wife of Route 2, Stanley; two sons, Larry with the U.S. Air Force in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dennis of West Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three stepsons, Ronald Romanowski of Route 1 Gilman, and James and Larry Romanowski, both of Route 2, Stanley; one step-daughter, Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Samplawski of Route 2 Stanley; two brothers, Roy of Owen and Lorin of Greenwood; and three sisters, Mrs. Don (Edna) Schevelon of Greenwood, Mrs. Carl (Eva) Hakes of Stanley and Mrs. Jean Stapel of California.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Fredrick Brost officiating. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Gilman. Friends may call at Gilman Funeral Home.

***Notes: Marriage date in Ralph and Charlotte's obits says February 4, 1934 but engraving on their tombstone says 1931.

On obit edit corrects the second marriage date from January 30, 1973 to 1974.
