Gaetz, JoAnne (9 OCT 1965)
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Laper have returned from a honeymoon trip to Alton,
Illinois, and St Louis, Missouri, and are now at home at Unity.
The marriage of Miss JoAnne Gaetz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gaetz, route
1, Spencer, and Kenneth Floyd Laper, son of Mrs. Lorraine Laper, Owen, took
place Saturday, October 9, 1965, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. The Rev.
Robert Sutherland performed the 2 o’clock ceremony, during which Mrs. Duane
Neuman sang “Wedding Prayer” and “O Promise Me.” Miss Kathy Justman was the
organist.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor
length gown of Chantilly lace that featured a Basque bodice with long sleeves
and a jewel trimmed bateau neckline. The full hoop skirt of lace over taffeta
and net was detailed at the back with rows of lace and nylon tulle. Her
fingertip veil was held in place by a 2-tier crown of pearls and crystals. She
carried a bouquet of red roses centered with a white orchid.
Her attendants wore dresses made of aqua brocade with bell skirts trimmed with a
velvet bow and streamers. They carried bouquets of aqua and white carnations.
Attending the bridal couple were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kuehling of route 1, Unity,
as honor couple, Mr. and Mrs. Darnell Schoelzel, route 2, Colby, and Mr. and
Mrs. Duane Zager, Owen.
David Gaetz of Riplinger and Donald Beier of Medford seated the wedding guests
at the church.
About 150 relatives and friends attended the reception at the Unity Memorial
Hall, and the supper served at the church parlors. In the evening a wedding
dance was held at Sportsmen’s Park, Colby.
Guests came from Alton and Barrington, Illinois, Correll, Minnesota, Milwaukee,
Owen, Spencer, Abbotsford, Unity, Riplinger, Loyal and Marshfield.
The groom is a 1959 graduate of the Colby High School and is employed as a
cheese maker at Mandel’s Cheese Factory, Unity. His bride attended Colby High
School and has been employed at the Dennis Kuehling home.
