Nowak, Geraldine L. (29 JUL 1942 – 27 APR 2020)
Geraldine L. Nowak, age 77, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020,
at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. A memorial service will be held at
10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic
Church, in Lublin, WI. Fr. Marion Talaga will officiate and interment will
follow in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held
at the church, following the burial, from 11 a.m. until noon.
Geraldine Lillian Nowak was born on July 29, 1942, in Lublin, WI, the daughter
of Felix and Bernice (Lis) Nowak. She attended Lublin State Graded School and
later Thorp High School, graduating in 1960. Geraldine then attended Taylor
County Teachers College in Medford for two years, and UW-Stevens Point for one
year. She taught elementary education in Lublin and Stanley/Boyd Schools for
many years. Geraldine then worked at ITT Life, in Thorp, until its closing in
the early 1980's. Geraldine then worked at Weather Shield in Medford for several
years, and later at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, until retiring.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed her weekly trips to Eau Claire
looking for a bargain. She would come home with a matching outfit, from her hat
to her shoes to her nail polish. Her other guilty pleasure were her cars, at one
time owning three: her Lincoln, her Caddy, and a Toronado, while matching her
clothing to the color of car she was driving. She was quite a lady!!
She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, where
she served as parish chairperson. Gerry was also the Clerk and Treasurer for the
Village of Lublin for many years, and was on the Lublin Pavilion Committee.
Geraldine is survived by one sister, Christine Nowak (Joe Wincek) of Lublin; two
nieces: Cherish of Eau Claire, WI and Jodi of Seattle, WA; one nephew, J.J. of
Somerset, WI; five great nieces and nephews: Jake, Isabella, Roo, Gavin and
Trinity; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
