Martens, Mr. / Mrs. Emil (55th – 2 NOV 1965)
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Martens were honored at a surprise celebration of their 55th
wedding anniversary Saturday, October 30, 1965, given by their daughters and
families, with a dinner at the Colby Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Martens were married November 2, 1910 at Unity.
Table decorations included an anniversary cake, golden candles, milk white vases
of lavender and plum colored chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Martens had a white orchid corsage and Mr. Martens a white carnation
boutonniere.
Attending the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Kuester and family, Miss Caroline
Martens, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Duve and daughter, Barbara, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and
Mrs. George Roth and family of Unity, Miss Eileen Roth, Stevens Point, Joann
Roth, Marshfield, Miss Carol Braun, Milwaukee, and John Laabs, Abbotsford.
Kenneth Kuester, Milwaukee, was unable to be present.
After dinner the Martens and their guests gathered at the Martens home for a
social evening.
The group presented them with a gift and potted plant, as well as many greeting
cards from relatives and friends.
