Becker, Ida M. (21 JUL 1888 – 13 NOV 1965)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Marie Becker, 77, of Abbotsford, who died
Saturday, November 13, 1965, were held Monday afternoon. The body lay ins tate
at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, until noon Monday, when it was taken
to Christ Lutheran Church, where services were held at 2 o’clock. The Rev. F. H.
Sprengler officiated at the church and at the interment in the Abbotsford
Cemetery. Music provided during the service was by Mrs. Charles Plautz, the
organist. Mrs. Dale Ridderbusch sang “Rock of Ages,” “Nearer My God to Thee,”
and Robert Benson sang “The Old Rugged Cross.”
The pallbearers were George Becker, Harold Becker, John Poppy Sr., Melvin Poppe,
LaVerne Polster, and Melvin Schunk.
Mrs. Becker, the former Ida Marie Barkley, was born July 21, 1888 in Hewitt and
was educated there. Her marriage to Peter J. Becker took place August 1, 1906.
They lived in Marshfield until 1943, when they came to Abbotsford. Fourteen
years ago they made their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Anderson, Abbotsford. Mr. Becker died twelve years ago and Mrs. Becker’s
death occurred at 2:45 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson home.
Mrs. Becker was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a charter member of the
Priscilla Guild, and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Survivor include a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mabel Anderson, Abbotsford, two sons,
Elmer W. Becker and Robert P. Becker, Marshfield, a sister, Mrs. Paul (Mae)
Warzenska of Marshfield, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four
step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, and two
sisters.
Relatives from away who came for the funeral were from Marshfield, Merrill,
Markesan, Stratford, and Wausau.
