Kingsbury, Theresa M. (23 October 1928 – 25 June 2020)

Theresa M. Kingsbury, 91, Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, died on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at her home with family by her side.

Theresa was born on October 23, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Louise (Hayes) Thornton. She was united in marriage to Kenneth T. Kingsbury on September 15, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Kenneth died on April 8. 2012.

Theresa worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until June 1964 when they moved to a farm near Neillsville. Then she worked at Neillsville Hospital until retirement in 1995. They moved to Marshfield in 2009. Theresa was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville where she was part of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, Prolife, and Interfaith caregiver. In Marshfield she joined Sacred Heart Parish and the Parish Council of Catholic Women and Christian Mothers. Theresa recited the rosary daily and with a wonderful group at Wildwood Regency apartments.

She is survived by her children Thomas (Barbara) Kingsbury of Loyal, Mary (Steve) Preston of Greenville, Stephen (Mary) Kingsbury of Wanamingo, MN, Barbara (Jerry) Bloss of Eau Claire, Matthew (Rebecca) Kingsbury of Lewiston, MN, Bruce (Marisol) Kingsbury of Shallimar, FL, Karen (Jeff) Slagg of Lemhi, ID, Vincent (Serena) Kingsbury of Steam Boat Springs, CO, Josephine (Todd) Koss of Fond du Lac, Jennifer (Andy) Timm of Portage, IN, James (Sarah) Kingsbury of Sublinity, Oregon, Edwin (Jessica) Kingsbury of Necedah, Carol (Randy) Anason of Johnson Creek, and Ellen (James) Kertis of Holman. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Rosemarie Mindt and a brother, Dr. Frank (Pat) Thornton and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Kathy in infancy, grandchildren, Patrick James Preston and Ashley Timm and a great granddaughter, Ashlyn Jean Kingsbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Neillsville.

The funeral will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes  at 11:00 am (CST) on Wednesday. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The family wishes to extend a thank you for all the support from Father Kitzhaber and Ascension Hospice for their guidance and comfort during this trying time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, 442 S. Demazenod Dr., Belleville, IL, 62222-9978.
