Zank, Conrad Charles (26 January 1921 – 6 April 2001) With Flag

Conrad Charles Zank, age 80, Pekin, Il., died Friday, April 6, at his residence.

He was born January 26, 1921, in Neillsville to William Frederick and Emma Stelloh Zank.

A World War II Army veteran, he served from Dec. 5, 1942 to Oct. 26, 1945 in Iceland and also in Europe. He attained the rank of Corporal.

On June 29, 1946 he married Mildred E. “Midge” Jent in Pekin, IL. He worked 43 years at the Corn Products Company in Pekin as an instrument and control technician, retiring in 1984 from Pekin Energy.

Conrad was a handyman and enjoyed gardening. He also was an avid reader. In his younger years he played a lot of baseball.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Julie A. (Pete) Moreschi, Pekin; two grandchildren, Danielle D. Moreschi, Macomb, IL., and Matthew C. Moreschi, Pekin; five brothers, Walter (Frieda) Fairchild, Robert L., Pekin, Frank H.(Jeanette), Neillsville, Louis and Harold C. (Jeanenne), both of Center City, MN; and one sister, Leona E.(Harold) Evenson, St. Paul, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Grace E. Suchow; and three brothers, August W., Edward, and Albert A. H.

Services were held Monday at Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Timothy Nolan officiated. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL.
