Loyal’s DAR “Good Citizen” (Geiger – March 2020)

Geiger Named as Loyal’s “Good Citizen”

Graduating Loyal High School Senior Remi Geiger has had an honor bestowed upon her that only one person per school district in central Wisconsin receives annually.

Geiger was chosen the good citizen of her senior class by the Nay-osh-ing Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Plover.

“The Good Citizen Award rewards the qualities of good citizenship,” said Betty Andringa, the chairperson for the chapter’s good citizen program. “Remi works at a local ice cream shop in town and was very active in school.”

Geiger was a left hitter in volleyball, guard in basketball and short stop in softball.

Awards and certificates are usually given in a “Youth Night” put on by the chapter in March, but this year’s was cancelled because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Andringa and Shannon Moore, the regent and American history chairperson of the Nay-osh-ing Chapter, traveled to area schools to deliver awards to recipients, including Geiger.
