Tews, Scott Charles (30 September 1954 – 10 July 2020)

Scott C. Tews, age 65, of Neillsville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 10 after a courageous battle with cancer. His spirit during his long fight against cancer is an inspiration to all who knew him.

Scott Charles Tews was born September 30, 1954 in Neillsville, to Edgar and Alice (Beyer) Tews. Scott made many life-long friends in school and stayed close to them until his death. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from Neillsville High School. After high school, he earned an Associate Degree in Civil Structural Technology from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. Upon graduation he joined his father in the family construction business and eventually he took over Tews Carpentry. For over 40 years, he designed, built and remodeled residential homes and commercial properties.

He was united in marriage to Carol Zank on July 20, 1985. Together they had two children, Ryan and Kelley. Scott was a devoted husband and father. He cherished his time with his family and friends whether it was watching a Packer game together, fishing, hiking or taking a road trip. Scott appreciated nature and being outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and enjoyed motorcycle riding. He took many fishing trips to Canada with friends and his son, Ryan. Scott and his daughter, Kelley, enjoyed fishing on the Black River. He liked playing softball and bowling; for many years, he was a member of Gross's team in league bowling.

Scott was active in the Neillsville community. He was a long-time member of the Neillsville Men’s Club and the WINX Club. He was a member of the Pine Valley Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council. He took great pride that Tews Carpentry along with the Neillsville High School capstone building class built the new Pine Valley Lutheran Church.

Scott is survived by his wife, Carol, his son, Ryan Tews and his daughter, Kelley Baum and her husband Sam, and step-grandson Vincent, all of Neillsville, his siblings include Linda (Norm) Dodge of Eleva, Mark (Raymond Griffis) Tews of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Paul (Cindy) Tews of Naples, FL. Other survivors include nephews, Alex (Sadie) Dodge of Eleva, and Adam (Nicole) Dodge of Mondovi, mother-in-law, Ardis Zank, Neillsville, father-in-law, Bill (Sue) Zank of Neillsville, and sisters-in-law, Gail Zank (Bob Davis) of San Marcos, TX and Ann Zank of Milwaukee.

Scott was predeceased by his parents, Edgar C. and Alice M. (Beyer) Tews.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 24 at Gesche Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and a funeral service for family will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 25 at the Pine Valley Lutheran Church.
