Armitage, Doris A. (9 December 1907 - 20 October 1981)

NEILLSVILLE -- Mrs. Doris A. Armitage, 73, Route 3, was dead on arrival Tuesday at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 9, 1907 in Alma Center to Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Ida Wilding) Gower. She received her education in the Humbird Schools and graduated from Humbird High School. She attended Stevens Point College and taught school for several years in the Alma Center and Spencer area.

She was married to Lisle C. Armitage October 28, 1929 in Neillsville. The couple farmed in the town of Weston, Clark County, for many years. After the death of her husband on January 31, 1977, she continued to live on the farm.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Jeneda) Mickelson of Forest Lake, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Otto (Vera) Penzenstadler of Youngstown, Arizona and Mrs. Theo Crume of Neillsville; two brothers, Irving Gower of Granton and Glen Gower of Marshfield; and three grandchildren.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Christie, and the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Services will be Friday at United Methodist Church, Christie. The Rev. Donald L. Adams will officiate and burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Friends may call at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.
