College Notes (Graduates/Honors - 2020)
The following local residents were among 816 students receiving degrees from the
University of Wisconsin-River Falls in May. Students are listed by hometown,
name, degree, major and honors (if listed).
Greenwood: Steven Arch, bachelor of science, health and human performance;
Kristyn Nigon, bachelor of science, dairy science
Loyal: Mikaela Krahn, bachelor of science, animal science
Owen: Grace Mason, Bachelor of science, psychology
Thorp: Vanessa Nicpon, bachelor of science, agricultural education.

Western Technical College in La Crosse is pleased to announce the names of the
spring 2020 graduates, including several area students.
Cassandra Elmer of Greenwood graduated with a degree in business management.
Aaron Morrow of Colby received a degree as a digital marketing specialist,
Paola Bianca Seduco of Humbird received an associate’s degree in nursing.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has announced its chancellor’s list,
honoring those with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages (GPAs) for the spring 2020
semester.
A total of 467 students earned the honors at the three campuses: UW-Platteville,
UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County and UW-Platteville Richland. Those students
earned the highest honors while making the quick transition from in-person
classes to alternative delivery in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students from this area who earned the 4.0 GPA include Courtney Frankewicz and
Raleigh Frankewicz, both graduates of Thorp High School. Courtney is studying
elementary education and Raleigh is studying agricultural business.

Carthage College in Kenosha has announced its spring graduates, among them Jacob
Simar from Loyal. The pre-recorded virtual commencement ceremony debuted on May
23. A traditional celebrating will be held on campus at a later date.
In addition, the college named Mikayla Vittallo from Owen to its dean’s list for
academic excellence during the spring 2020 semester.
Dean’s list honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5
GPA while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.
