Griffith, Evalyn (29 December 1896 - 24 October 1981)
THORP -- Services will be Wednesday in Menasha for a former Thorp resident, Mrs.
Harold O. (Evalyn) Griffith, 86, who died Saturday afternoon in a Kaukauna
nursing home.
The Rev. David Lewis will conduct the rites at Laemmrich Funeral Home and burial
will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah.
Mrs. Griffith, the former Evalyn Koch, was born December 29, 1896 in Thorp to
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Koch. She and Harold O. Griffith were married; he
survives.
Mrs. Griffith attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menominie, and taught
at St. Mary Preparatory School, Prairie du Chien. She then attended Lawrence
University-Appleton, earning a degree in 1920. She served in the Army Nurse
Corps during World War I and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, the
Neenah-Menasha Woman's Club, the American Association of University Women, St.
Patrick's Catholic Church of Menasha and Menasha Historical Society. She also
was involved in Girl Scout work.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald B.
(Rhode) Williams, Wausau, and Mrs. Robert L. (Barbara) Boehm, Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada; a brother, L. Gerald Koch, Winnetka, Illinois; 13
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents.
