Hatfield has a little-known place for teens to have some fun.
In 2006, Brian and Shawn Darling purchased the former Thunderbird Roller Rink
and began working on the building: they renamed it Club Twilight. They decided
to keep it a roller rink and added a dance element to the long-standing building
in downtown Hatfield.
The Club Twilight logo adorns the roller rink and dance floor at the club,
located in Hatfield. Formerly the Thunderbird Roller Rink, Club Twilight is
currently be remodeled. A New Year’s Eve Party will be held at Club Twilight
this week. Cheryl Anderegg/Clark County Press
The first order of business was to resurface the skating floor, which now
includes the club’s logo. Skaters of all take part in the fun. Roller skate
rental is available and inline skates can be rented. An admission fee is also
charged whether the is skating or not. Parents, as well as children under age 3,
are admitted free.
Although the building is still being remodeled, the rink is open and ready for
guests. The Darlings always wanted to own a club, or a place similar to one, and
saw this facility as a chance to achieve that goal. A state-of the art music
system keeps skaters and dancers entertained and plays any type of music genre
anyone requests.
Concessions, including beverages, snack food and ice cream, can be purchased at
the facility. Fully heated during the winter and air conditioned in the summer,
the rink and dance club is a place for get-togethers and birthday parties.
The rink is currently open for business three days per week. Friday evening
skating runs from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; the floor is then opened up for dancing
until midnight.
Saturday evenings, skating starts at 7 p.m.; the floor is available for dancing
at 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays, the rink is open for skating from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m.
Club Twilight will host a New Year’s Eve gathering Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 7
p.m. to 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009.
