William Abel was born to Mr. and Mrs. Franz Abel on February 20, 1872, in West
Bend Wisconsin. They moved to a farm in the town of Warner in 1879.
Meta Schwarze was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Schwarze in the town of Warner on
June 28, 1879.
William and Meta were married in the town of Warner on June 28m 1899. That day
they moved to their farm in Section One, in what was then West Eaton. Later this
township was named Hendren.
The road ended at Steiger’s Corner, which is now Jake Barr’s Corner. From there
the newlyweds traveled through the woods to their farm.
To this union were born two sons, Edwin born July 7, 1900, and Ted born January
22, 1908.
Some years later, William Abel and Joe Trotter, with their teams of horses, made
the road from Steiger’s Corner to Zupanc’s Corner.
Mrs. William Abel passed away June 16, 1946. William passed away December 13,
1959.
