Dunlap, Bob (Army Veteran - 2011)
Interviewing Bob Dunlap is Zabrina Mason and she is a Junior member of the
Auxiliary Unit 118.
Bob was in the Army and enlisted for one year, but Pearl Harbor attacks kept him
in another four years.
Bob enlisted in 1941 and ended his tour of duty in 1946. He did serve during
hostile times during World War II. He attended boot camp in Oklahoma. An
interesting story was attending a meeting where personal spoken to be [sic] was
the Pope at the Vatican.
Bob was awarded several (last captain) bronze star medals. He did several jobs
as assigned. He served in the U.S. and felt as a normal participant. Bob does
not communicate with comrades. He did not do intense fighting but was scared at
times. [He] does not dream of those days,
The fun part for Bob was participating in non-confrontational activities. Bob is
a Legion member because he was invited and chose to belong.
This is the 17th interview. The Junior members of the Auxiliary are running out
of willing veterans that would like to be interviewed. If you want to be
interviewed, call 715-669-3232. Thank you, veterans, for all you have done.
