Abramowicz’ Brothers Honored at Highground (Sylvester, Alex, Walter – 18 May 2013)

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, a stone placement ceremony took place at The Highground Veterans Memorial park new Neillsville, Wisconsin. Friends and family came to honor three Abramowicz brothers for their service during WWII. GM2 Sylvester Abramowicz, USN, of Stanley, PVT Alex Abramowicz, US Army, of Bellinger, and T5 Walter Abramowicz, US Army, of Thorp (all originally of Bellinger, WI).

GM2 Sylvester Abramowicz served in the US Navy, mostly on board PC-587 from 1942-1945; PVT Alex Abramowicz, served in the US Army from 1943-1944. Service to his country ended when he was killed in action at Mont Cassino, Italy while his unit was engaged in battle. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart medal. T5 Walter Abramowicz served om the US Army, enlisting after his twin brother Alex’s death and serving until the end of WWII.

The Legacy Stone honoring GM2 Abramowicz was sponsored by Margaret Abramowicz (spouse) and her family; and the Legacy Stone honoring twin brothers PVT and T5 Abramowicz was sponsored by their brother Edmund Abramowicz and family and Esther Abramowicz (spouse of Walter).

Honoring the three WWII veteran brothers with their presence at the ceremony, in addition to Margaret, spouse of Sylvester; Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Abramowicz, Sr., last surviving brother, and, Esther, spouse of Walter, were numerous family and friends.
