Barkley, Maurine E. (10 JAN 1944 – 24 JUL 2020)

Maurine E. Barkley, age 76, of Abbotsford, formerly of Aitkin, Minn., passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Abbotsford Health Care Center. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Aitkin, Minn. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Maurine was born on Jan. 10, 1944, the daughter of Carroll and Anne (Barden) Heft in Long Beach, Calif. She graduated from Aitkin High School and UW-Stout. Maurine taught home economics at Abbotsford and Owen-Withee. She also taught preschool and Headstart in Abbotsford, and was a substitute teacher in the area for many years. Maurine enjoyed judging at many local fairs for cooking, crafts and sewing, and was involved with the Cinderella and Snow White costumes for the Christmas Parade for many years.

Maurine was united in marriage to Robert Barkley on June 28, 1969, in West Allis. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling and camping. Most importantly, Maurine cherished her family.

Maurine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert of Abbotsford; her daughter, Leslie Barkley of Abbotsford; five grandchildren: Brittany Montgomery of Abbotsford, Kenneth Hoffmann of Arvada, Colo., Christopher Hoffmann of Duluth, Minn., Jade Revak of Phillips and Michael Revak of Phillips; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Jackson and Lara Montgomery. She is further survived by four siblings: Terri (Jon) Charlsen, Kimberly (Douglas) Cook, Pamela (Rev. Paul) Andell and Barden Heft, all of Aitkin, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff at Abbotsford Health Care Center for the care and companionship they provided to her while she was there.
