Mr. Frank Bergant was born January 17, 1886 in Cerkl- je at Kanj Gorenska,
Jugoslavia. In 1904 he came to America, locating in Ely, Minnesota where he
worked in the iron ore mines.
He met the former Marianne Groselj, also of Cerkl-je at Kanj Gorenska,
Jugoslavia. She came to America in 1904 also. On April 21, 1907 they were
married in Ely, Minnesota. In 1914 they came to Willard with their four children
where they started farming. Later two more children were born. Frank resided in
Willard until his death on April 17, 1961. His wife Marian is a resident at
Memorial Home in Neillsville, Wisconsin
Frank Jr. lives in Willard. Anton Bergant lives in Cicero, Illinois. Mary
Bergant married August Stremikis. They live in Willard. Amelia Bogolin lives in
Western Spring, Illinois. Angeline married George Papacek and they live in Rice
Lake, Wisconsin. John passed away in 1981.
The Bergants bought 80 acres which cost $4,000. They later bought 80 acres
across the road from Bayuks. The original Bergant farm is now owned by Richard
Bravener.
