O'Reilly, Francis L. "Pat" (1902 - 22 November 1981)
GRANTON -- Funeral services were held Wednesday for Francis L. "Pat" O'Reilly,
78, formerly of Granton, who died of leukemia November 22 at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Milwaukee.
Mr. O'Reilly attended the Catholic school in New London and graduated from
Granton High School. He attended the colleges at Eau Claire and Ripon from which
he received his bachelor of science degree and Marquette University, where he
earned his masters degree.
Mr. O'Reilly, who resided at 12730 N. Lake Shore Dr., 5W, Mequon, was a science
and biology teacher and later a guidance counselor for the Milwaukee Public
Schools for 46 years until retiring in 1973.
In 1974 he was elected to the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors and served on
that board and on the Ozaukee County Highway Commission until 1980. He was a
member of the Mequon's Men's Club and received its "Man of the Year Award" in
1979. He also was a member of the Boy Scouts Merit Badge Council for 35 years
and in 1978 received the group's highest award, the Silver Beaver, from Bay
Lakes Council. He was a member of the council's executive committee at the time
of his death.
He also was a member of the Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post, Milwaukee
Teachers Association and a trustee of St. James Catholic Church in Mequon.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a lieutenant commander in the
Pacific and was a member of the Naval Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mannix O'Reilly, Mequon, and two sisters, Miss
Florence O'Reilly and Mrs. Mary Yankee, both of Neillsville.
