Bredlow, Patricia May (27 May 1936 – 26 December 2024)
Patricia May Bredlow, 87, passed away peacefully in Tomah, on December 26, 2023.
Patricia was born on May 27, 1936, to Helen and Percy Phillips in McHenry,
Illinois where she grew up with her three brothers, Wayne, Roger, and Glen.
After graduating from Neillsville High School in 1954, Patricia went on to
pursue a degree at Purdue University and later obtained her life insurance
license.
Patricia was married in 1954 and from this union had four daughters: Victoria,
Laurel, Rosemary, and Brigitte.
Patricia loved to sew and made lingerie for various stores throughout the 1960’s
as a professional embroiderer. She was also the first woman to own her own
insurance agency in the state of Wisconsin, and many women would later follow
her lead. In 1997 Patricia started a stained-glass studio, Glass Delights, in
Black River Falls, creating stained glass windows for churches all over
Wisconsin and the United States. She also played an integral role in acquiring
the murals around downtown Black River Falls. Always one with a strong will and
an even stronger spirit, Patricia beat cancer four separate times throughout her
life.
Patricia is survived by her four daughters, Victoria Thiel, Laurel Lea Harrison,
Rosemary Bashaw, and Bridgitte London, and her grandchildren Justin, Jared, and
Ross. She is predeceased by her parents, Percy and Helen, and her brothers Wayne
Phillips, Roger Phillips, and Glen Phillips.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 8th at 1 o'clock at the
Little Norway Church Cemetery in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Pastor Cal
Thorson will be officiating.

Helm, James Robert “Jim” (24 December 1929 – 19 January 2024)
James R. "Jim" Helm, age 94, of Loyal, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024,
at the Clark County Living & Rehab Center in Owen.
James Robert Helm was born on December 24, 1929, in Loyal, the son of Axel J.
and Frances M. (Bauer) Helm. He was raised and received his education in Loyal,
where he graduated from Loyal High School. Jim was united in marriage to Delores
R. Pieper on October 26, 1949, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. He was a
life-long resident of Loyal, where he worked as the foreman for the Loyal
Canning Company for many years, and then later owned and operated the House of
Spirits liquor store. For a number of years, he was an alderman and served as
mayor of Loyal.
In his retirement he enjoyed driving escort on highways for oversize semi-truck
loads, and loved camping, fishing, golfing, and traveling in his RV. Jim was an
active member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church his whole life.
He is survived by his daughters: Sandra (Jeff) Sommers of Jonesborough, TN, and
Shelly (Dennis) Stein of Appleton; four grandchildren: Craig (Kelly) Sommers,
Chris (Kelli) Sommers, Kelsey (Adam) Kienert, and Matthew Stein; four great
grandchildren: Malakai Sommers, Carey Sommers, Caley Sommers, and Lyla Kienert;
his special friend, Darlene Lucht; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores, on October 30,
1971; one son Randy, on November 23, 1998; one daughter, Sharon Fidler, on
January 30, 2009; four sisters: Marie and Angeline Helm, Florence Christensen,
and Delores Adair; three brothers: Herbert, Arthur, and Richard Helm; as well as
his significant other of 25 years, Marie Shupe.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St.
Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, with Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating. Burial
will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held
at the church, on Tuesday, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.

Wagner, Edna LaVon (12 June 1932 – 13 January 2024)
Edna L. (Quast) Wagner, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2024, at
Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Black River Falls, where she resided for the last
year.
Edna was born on June 12th, 1932, to Henry and Ruth (Currier) Quast in
Neillsville. She grew up on the family farm in rural Neillsville. At age 14 she
traveled with her father to Montana, where he worked in the wheat fields while
Edna worked in the kitchens. When she returned, she worked for a family in Owen,
Wisconsin as a nanny. Later she moved to Manitowoc where she met her husband and
worked for Mirro Aluminum Co.
Edna and Roger Wagner were married in December 1956. They owned and operated a
gas station in Francis Creek, until they retired. Roger was a great mechanic and
Edna attended to the vehicles.
Edna and Roger spent their time participating in numerous clubs in the area,
traveling, racing stock cars, and hunting. They had a huge and beautiful garden
and led a very active and full life.
Edna’s wish was to live near her siblings in Black River Falls, which she was
able to do the last two years of her life.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth, brother Henry Quast,
sister Bertha (Ernie) Cram, brother Louis Quast and her beloved nephew Ernest
“Junior” Cram.
Edna is survived by her husband Roger “Bucky” Wagner of Manitowoc; sisters Betty
(Gilles) Oliver of Alma Center; June Christopherson of Alma Center, and brother
John (Betty) Quast of Black River Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews who
loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed. Her last year at the Meadowbrook
Nursing Home was a joy to Edna. She loved the staff and especially liked all the
activities.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Sherry Lynne Brunko and David Duane Marg were married March 16 at Zion Lutheran
Church, Granton. Rev. Maynard Stokka united the bride, daugher of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Mascaro, Des Moines, Iowa, and groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Marg,
Granton.
Friends of the couple, Chris Miller and Jeff Miller, Neillsville served as maid
of honor and bestman. Melissa Marg, sister of the groom was candle lighter,
while Jessica Marie Brunko, daughter of the bride, was flower girl. Guests were
escorted into the church by ushers Michael Dybevek, Madison, and Andy Harris,
Ames, Iowa.
An ivory, antique design gown with cameo-accented neckline was worn by the
bride. She carried a bouquet of flowers in many shades of peach. Bridesmaid
gowns in peach silk were topped with lace jackets. The groom wore brown tails
and bow tie, with his groomsmen were attired in brown tuxedos and bow ties.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dance was held at the Sportsmen’s Club
in Granton. A prenuptial bridal shower was hosted by Ruth Marg Patton, Susan
Herried and Melissa Marg. Sunny Florida has been chosen for the couple’s
honeymoon next winter. The couple are at home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Sherry, a Minnesota high school graduate is employed at Mid-continent
Engineering, Minneapolis. David, a Granton High School graduate and certified
mechanic is employed by Winnetka Standard, Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ray Fischella are at home in Tucson, Arizona after their
marriage April 4, at St. Elizabeth’s Ann Selon Church. Father Tom Millane
presided at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
The bride, Lynn Jeanine Corey, was given in marriage by her father, Gary N.
Corey, of 518 Hewett Street, Neillsville. Mother of the bride is Carole Schrege
of Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fischella, parents of the groom, reside
at 5531 E. Burns street, Tucson. Included in the wedding party were Lynn
Fischella, maid of honor of Menlo, Park, California and Tom Fischella, bestman,
of Tucson; and Courtney Fischella, flower girl.
A cascade of white roses, peach star flowers and baby’s breath complimented the
bride’s traditional white gown. Bridesmaids attired in blue-gray silk dresses
accented with peach sashes carried bouquets of peach carnations, star flowers,
baby’s breath, silk greens and peach ribbons. The groom and groomsmen were
attired in light gray tuxedos with striped ties.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas and coastal cities of California, Lynn has
returned to employments as a registered nurse at Tucson Medical Center and
Michael to his position as hospital supervisor at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Danny Allan Marg and Debra Lea Harris were united in a double ring ceremony
March 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. The Rev. Maynard Stokka officiated
at the service with included Connie Ross, Winfield, Iowa, sister of the bride,
as matron of honor. Friend of the groom, Duane Huth, Abbotsford, was bestman.
Sister-in-law of the bride, Jacki Harris, Ames, Iowa, served as personal
attendant. Other attendants included ushers Mike Dybevek, Madison, and Andy
Harris, Ames, Iowa; candlelighter, Melissa Marg; Laura Ross, flower girl.
The bride, daughter of Lloyd and Oneta Harris, Mr. Union, Iowa, was given in
marriage by her father. Jim and Rhoena Marg of Granton, are the parents of the
groom.
A reception and dance followed at the Sportsmen’s Club, Granton. Co-hostesses of
a bridal shower were; Ruth Marg Patton, Susan Herried and Melissa Marg. Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Smith, grandparents of the bride, attended from Danville, Iowa.
Victorian design inspired the ivory lace gown worn by the bride. Her opal and
diamond necklace was a gift from the groom. Silk flowers in shades of blue and
ivory comprised the bouquet while in her hair she wore a wreath of silk flowers
with a trail of ivory ribbons. Attendant’s street-length gowns were teal blue
velour and their pearl jewelry, gifts from the bride. Teal blue bow tie and
cumber bunds accented the groom’s white tails while groomsmen were attired in
black tuxedos.
Debra is a graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union High, Winfield, Iowa and Amer-Institute
of Business, Des Moines, Iowa. She is employed as a legal secretary, Fingerhut
Corporation. Danny is a Granton High graduate and employed at Allied Aviation
Fueling, Minneapolis, Minnesota International Airport. The couple are at home in
Maple Plaine, Minnesota.

Graves. Susan Leonard and Steve Graves were married on February 18 at the
bride’s New York City home. The groom, son of Shirley Graves of Neillsville and
the late Darwin Graves, is employed by the American Pecco Corporation in
Manassas, Virginia. The bride is employed by the brokerage firm of Paine Webber

Gaden, Mary A. (5 July 1889 – 31 March1985)
A resident of Neillsville for the past 80 years, Mary A. Gaden, died in
Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Sunday evening, March 31. She was 95 at the
time of her death and resided at 217 West Tenth Street.
The deceased was born on July 5, 1889, in Jefferson to John and Caroline
(Kememeter) Aumann. She received her education in Jefferson area schools. At the
age of 15, she moved with her parents to Neillsville. On August 25, 1906, she
married William Gaden in Neillsville ceremonies. In late May of 1942, her
husband died. She then worked for the Auto-Test Company for several years. She
remained a Neillsville resident the rest of her life. She was a member of St.
Mary’s parish and its Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Surviving her is a daughter, Genevieve Schmidt, Loyal; two sons, John Gaden of
Wisconsin Rapids and Ernest Gaden of Neillsville; a brother, Henry Aumann,
Loyal; eight grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and six great-great
grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, four sisters and six
brothers.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, April 3, from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating. St.
Mary’s Choir, with Virginia Gassen as accompanist offered music. Burial was made
in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert, Ronald and Eugene Schmidt,
William Gaden, James Peterson and Shane Allison.

Larsen, Elwyn (26 September 1911 - ? April 1985) With Flag
Services were held on Sunday, April 14 at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, for
Elwyn Larsen, 73 of Mesa, Arizona. He died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix,
Arizona. The Rev. Theodore Krueger officiated at the service and burial was in
the cemetery of the Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran
Church, Westfield.
Mr. Larson was born in Packwaukee on September 26, 1911, and was educated in New
Auburn schools and River Falls Normal Teachers College. He served with the
United States Navy and taught school for most of his life.
Surviving is his wife, the former Neva Bartz, whom he married in Granton on June
5, 1947. Also surviving are four brothers, Harry of Beloit, Stanley of Eau
Claire; Rev. John of Reading, California and Richard of Milton. He was preceded
in death by a brother.

Mabie, Milo (24 July 1912 - 27 March 1985) With Flag
Milo Mabie, 72, a longtime barber in Neillsville and well-known area sportsman,
died on Wednesday afternoon, March 27, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He
had been in ill health for the past few months.
The deceased was born on July 24,1912 in Granton to Albert and Altha (Davis)
Mabie. He received his education in Granton area schools and graduated from
Granton High School. He then attended college in Stevens Point, followed by
serving his barber apprenticeship in Granton. In 1936, he purchased and opened a
barber shop in Neillsville across the street from the post office.
On May 30, 1937, he married Leona Chase in Neillsville ceremonies. During World
War II, he entered the U.S. Navy and served as a pharmacist’s mate, 3rd class in
the Pacific Theatre; he was discharged in late December of 1945. In the early
1970’s, Mabie moved his barbershop to its present location across from Sniteman
Pharmacy. He was one of Neillsville’s oldest businessmen in years of service.
He was active in the American Red Cross and the county’s civil defense
organization. He was also an avid hunter and in his later years had made a study
of woodcock migration.
Mabie who last made his home at 1011 Hewett St., Neillsville, was a member of
the Neillsville United Church of Christ, the local Masonic Lodge and the local
American Legion Post.
Surviving him, besides his wife who is a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home,
is a son, Steve, Neillsville; and three daughters, Mrs. James (Cheryl) Holt of
Black River Falls, Mrs. Merlyn (Mary Jean) Kroll of Neillsville and Mrs. Jay
(Kay) Hagen of Big Bear City, California. Joining them are seven grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Vesta Schuetter of Powell, Tennessee, Mrs.
Clifton (Irene) Clark, of Kalama, Washington, Mrs. Don (Carolyn) Angel of
Knoxville, Tennessee and Mrs. Howard (Adeline) Berger of Wilson, Michigan; and
three brothers, Donovan of Watertown, Ernest (Bud) of North Freedom and Theodore
of Escanaba, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
Masonic services were held at the funeral home on Friday evening. Mabie, an
active Mason, had often led similar rites for fellow lodge members over the
years.
Memorial services were held on Saturday morning, March 30, from the Neillsville
United Church of Christ with the Rev. Mark Voll officiating. The UCC choir,
accompanied by Deon Spangler, offered music. The body was cremated; the Gesche
Funeral Home of Neillsville was in charge of arrangements.

Smith, Floyd R. (15 February – 26 March 1985)
Floyd R. Smith, 74, of Fairchild and formerly of Merrillan, died Tuesday, March
26, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 15, 1911, in Alma Center to Joseph and Vera (Bush) Smith.
He was a truck driver in the Chicago area for many years. He later moved to
Merrillan where he operated the Phillips 66 Service Station. He later moved to
Hixton, and the past few years has been a resident of the Fairchild Nursing
Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Hughes of West Bend and Corinne Mohler
of Gonzales, Louisiana; a sister, Carmel Myinrosky, Rio Rancho, New Mexico;
seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services were held from the Jensen Funeral Home at Hixton with the Rev. Michael
Main officiating. Burial was made in East Lawn Cemetery in Alma Center.
