Emma Jane (Reese) was born in Ridgeway, Wisconsin September 18, 1891. Lucian Stephen was born in Wabasha, Minnesota September 13, 1989.

They were married November 8, 1919 at Greenwood and came to Willard in 1920. They operated a saw mill for several years and then operated the Willard Garage until 1942.

They had two children: Iris Jane and James Stephen. Iris married Gus J. Kaveckas and lives in Chicago. James married Bessie Ritchie in Spokane, Washington.

He was constable for many years and also worked with the Wisconsin Conservation League. Both were active in American Legion and women's auxiliary.

They moved to Merrill, Wisconsin and then to Bloomer, Wisconsin. Then they traveled the southwest in a house trailer. Lucian died July 1, 1953 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Emma Butcher passed away at the home of her daughter in Chicago on January 20, 1981.
