George and Pearl Campbell moved to Willard about the year of 1919. He was a
blacksmith in the Tioga area first, then moving to Greenwood, he worked for
either Ira or Tony Barr, both of whom had a blacksmith shop there. He heard of
the need of a blacksmith in Willard, so mov¬ed here where he built and operated
his own shop for many years. Pearl was the postmistress in Willard for a time in
the early 1940's.
They had one daughter, Jeanne, who now resides at Rockford, Illinois. Jeanne is
an artist. For a sketch by Jeanne of the shop and home, see repair shops.
