Sweda, Frank (8 January 1928 – 28 July 2020)
Frank Sweda, age 92, of Lublin, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Mayo
Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Private funeral services will be held at
Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin, with Fr. Hermann Klarr officiating.
Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with Frank's nephews serving as
pallbearers. Visitation for the public will only be held at Thorp Funeral Home
on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Panikhida
service.
Frank Sweda was born on January 8, 1928 in Lublin, to Matt and Anna (Paraschak)
Sweda. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Forest
Lake School. After completing his education, Frank took over the family farm in
the Town of Roosevelt. He farmed and drove school bus for the Gilman School
District for over 50 years.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church and served in
various capacities throughout the years.
Frank had many interests, but especially enjoyed deer hunting, playing baseball
and softball in his younger years, and was a devout Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by three sisters: Kathryn Blumel of Des Plaines, IL, Nettie (Jim)
Kowalczyk of Boyd, Pauline (Ray) Lewan of Lublin; two brothers: Harry of Lublin
and Don of Rolling Meadows, IL; two sisters-in-law: Judy Sweda of Colby and
Georgia "Tootsie" Sweda of Thorp; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Mary Terlecki, Ella
Kaye, Helen Janetzke, Julie Roback; and five brothers: John, Steve, Joe, Bill
and Andrew Sweda; and his best friend and lifetime companion, Marcella Budrus.
