Jakobi, Twila Mae “Tie” (31 October 1940 – 24 January 2024)
Twila “Tie” Mae Jakobi, 83, of Colby, passed away on Wednesday, January 24,
2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center.
Per Twila’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
Twila was born on October 31, 1940, in Loyal, the daughter of William and
Angeline (Miller) Evans. She attended Marshfield Senior High until the 11th
grade. On May 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Donald Jakobi in Winona
County, Minnesota. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Colby
area.
She enjoyed the intricate details of embroidery and doing word search puzzles.
Her priority in life was feeding her family from tending to her gardens to
collecting eggs from the coop and canning; she always had a warm meal waiting.
She always had a lap to sit on for the grandkids and she would have given her
shirt off her back to anyone in need.
Those who will cherish her memory include her children: Gary (Barb) Jakobi of
Marathon, Cheryl (Conrad) Nagorski of Stevens Point, Tammy (Roger) Vanderhoff of
Unity, Donald (Wendy) Jakobi, Jr of Colby, Christine (Kenny) Hintz of Stevens
Point, Gayle Jakobi of Colby, Darnel Jakobi of Unity, Daryl (Amy) Jakobi of
Loyal, Denise (Randy) Rucker of Spencer and Scott (Chris) Jakobi of Greenwood;
her grandchildren, Mike, Brandon, Joe, Shannon, Brent, Rodger, Jason, Deanna,
Tina, Eric, James, Jamie, Trevor, Brittany, Amber, Dillion, Tyler, Shantel,
McKenzie, Sydney, Kyle and Samantha and her many great-grandchildren, other
relatives and friends.
Twila is preceded in death by her parents, William and Angeline Evans; her
husband, Donald Jakobi in 2013; her daughters, Dawn Jakobi and Michelle Manthe
and her siblings, Sherry, Roxann, Jackie, Lavon, Boots, Vicky and David.
Twila’s arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.

Sweda, Georgia Eloise “Tootsie” (13 July 1925 – 22 January 2024)
Georgia E. “Tootsie” Sweda, age 98, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, January 22,
2024, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.
Georgia Eloise Reed was born on July 13, 1925, in Aleppo Township, Greene
County, PA, to Elmer L. and Georgia (Kuhn) Reed. She was raised and received her
education in Weimer, PA, where she attended grade school and graduated from high
school. After completing her education, Tootsie worked at Stouffer's in Chicago,
and also was a hostess where she supervised and trained waitresses. She was
united to Steve Sweda in Chicago. After her husband's death in December of 2000,
she moved to Thorp where she has resided until her death.
Tootsie had many interests, but especially loved singing, listening to piano
music, and helping her mother with canning.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law: Kathryn Blumel of Des Plaines, IL,
Nettie (Jim) Kowalczyk of Boyd, Pauline (Ray) Lewan of Lublin; two
brothers-in-law: Harry of Lublin and Don of Rolling Meadows, IL; many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tootsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve; three sisters:
Marjorie, Anita and Mary Lou; and one brother, Frank.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at
Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin, WI, with Fr. Bill Neumann
officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with her nephews
serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from
9:30 a.m. until time of service.

NATO-sponsored exercise by participating in the U.S. Army’s return of forces to
Germany (Reforger) 1985. Pfc. Doescher is a vehicle mechanic with the 39th
Engineer Battalion at the Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He is a 1982 graduate of
Marshfield Senior High School.

Goodman, Ann (Parish Scholarship - 1985)
Ann Goodman, daughter of James and Bette Goodman, Neillsville, has recently been
awarded the Parish Scholarship from Mount Mary Catholic College in Milwaukee.
Ann, a senior at Neillsville High School, has fulfilled many requirements to be
eligible; including the written recommendation of her parish Pastor, Fr. Joseph
Henseler, of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, of which Ann is an active
member.
Ann has been accepted at Mount Mary for 1985-1986 year. She will major in a
4-year program for fashion design and merchandising.

Dr. Clinton R. Bunke, president of DRM Corporation, Normal, Illinois, will
deliver the commencement address to the 640 candidates for the bachelor’s and
master’s degrees. Dr. Bunke, an educator for 24 years, has taught at six
different levels; he served as a coordinator of staff development; and as a
business executive in two corporations.
The senior valedictory will be present by Lisa I. Maraszek, a senior industrial
technology and business administration-marketing major from Loganville,
Wisconsin.
