John Glavan bought his farm from a land speculator named John Koshevar in 1918. This forty acre parcel was located about four miles north east of Willard on County Trunk "G". John was a small man and a bachelor. He built his barn and house by himself out of logs. He usually milked around seven cows and hauled the milk to the West Eaton Cheese Factory with his horse and buggy.

Never owning an automobile he walked to and from Willard and carried his groceries on his back in a heavy grain sack. He farmed thus until he became disabled and was taken in by the Joe Rakovec family until his death in 1937. Frank Rakovec took care of the farm and in appreciation John left it to him. John is buried in the Holy Family Cemetery in Willard.
