David Holsinger and his wife were married in Mt. Mor¬ris, Illinois. He purchased
80 acres of land through Mr. A.L. Clair in 1907 or 1908. Their farm was about
one-half mile north of Willard. It later became the Gabrovic farm.
Dave was a farmer, a carpenter, and also a stone mason. He came to Willard and
immediately started building himself a two-story log house. It took some time to
complete his own home and do some of the clearing, for a mason was always in
demand at that time. But at that time they worked ten to sixteen hours a day.
His house was on what is now County Trunk "G" and it was ready for his family
when he brought them up to Willard from Mt. Morris, Illinois in late November,
1908. About this time he had about five acres cleared for the following spring
for cultivation and planting.
Their daughter Ruth was born in Mt. Morris, Illinois. Today she (Mrs. Frank
Howard) lives in Pine Grove, California. They cleared more land and raised crops
but they did not stay in Willard country too long.
