Engebregt Kolstad came to the Greenwood area in 1881 from Norway. In 1883 his
wife and two children, Emil and Inga, joined him. A daughter, Julia, was born in
Greenwood. Engebregt, and later Emil worked in the logging camps in the Willard
area.
Alma Rosen arrived from Sweden in 1902 to the Greenwood area. In 1910 Alma
married Emil Kolstad. In 1922 they settled on their farm northeast of the John
Brezic farm on Route 1, Willard.
They had two sons: Everett of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Arthur, still living
on the home farm.
Mrs. Kolstad passed away in 1960 and Emil in 1973.
