Frank Lamovec was born on December 3, 1881 in Polkov Gradec, Jugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1904 with his brother John. They settled in Waukegan, Illinois and worked in a sugar factory for a time. They later went back to Jugoslavia. About a year and a half later my dad returned to the United States alone.

He then settled on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota and lived in Ely, Buhl, Woodbury, and Eveleth.

He married Frances Steblaj there. She came from Golo by lg, near Ljublanja. To them were born nine children, (2 sets of twins). One set of twins (girls) died in infancy. My sister Frances' twin died when she was about 21/2 years old. While in Minnesota my parents also took in boarders.

We came to Wisconsin in April 1920, and got off the train at Owego, which was below the farm where Roger Liebzeit lives now. We stayed with the Gregor Seliskars, then moved to the farm south of them, which my father had bought from Frank Persian. It had a black tar papered house and log barn on it.

Mother became ill shortly afterward and died on September 22, 1923 at the age of 36, leaving six children, ages 2 1/2 to 13 years. Those were hard years growing up without a mother. We went to the West Eaton school which was about 1/2 mile away.

Dad had a big new barn built, and a new house was built in 1929.

My dad passed away on June 3, 1947.

My youngest brother Henry stayed on the home farm. He marred Ann Koschak. He sold the farm to Earl Mavis and moved to Eau Claire, where they now reside.

My oldest sister Frances lives in Detroit, Michigan and my brother Frank and his wife Helen (Brezic) live in Greenwood.

Albin died on January 17, 1978. Philip now lives in Elmhurst, Illinois.

I, Mary, married Frank Koschak in 1946. We live on his home farm on R.R. Willard.
