Frank and Agatha (Vesel) Laykovich were both born in Jugoslavia, Frank about
1880 and Agatha about 1891. Agatha Vesel came to Montana where she lived with
relatives. Frank was a coal miner. They were married about 1910. They came to
Willard about 1911 and bought land one mile north and a half mile west of
Willard. They built up a nice farm consisting of many fine buildings.
To this union were born nine children: Frank, Joseph, Rosalyn (Zaller),
Angeline, Ernest, Emily, Lillian, Eugene and Bernard.
Hardships were encountered in those first years, clearing the land as did all
the surrounding families. Neighbors helped each other. The Korenchan family
stayed with them when their house was destroyed by a tornado, until it was
rebuilt again. Friendships were formed walking to school together and visiting
in the homos. Neighboring farms were the Bohs, Korenchans, Gabrovics, Artacs and
the Zallers.
