Peissig, Courtney Ann (1 January 1982)
Thomas and Peggy Peissig celebrated New Year's Eve by doing something that few
other couples did.
They began their celebration by driving from their farm on Route 1, Dorchester,
to St. Joseph's Hospital at about 9 p.m. And it was at 2:59 a.m. New Year's Day
that their daughter, Courtney Ann, was born.
Because of the weather and hazardous roads, Mrs. Peissig said they left their
home early to make sure she got to the hospital on time.
They did make it on time. She didn't have her first labor pain until about 1
a.m. and had about 1 1/2 hours of hard labor before her daughter was born.
Mrs. Peissig explained she really didn't have a specific due date, but Courtney
was not premature.
"We're glad it's a New Year's baby," Mrs. Peissig said this morning, "and we'll
get a tax deduction for her for 1982. We're really happy because now we have one
of each."
A brown-haired Courtney weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
She joins a brother, Jacob Thomas, 11 1/2 months.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peissig of Dorchester, and Mr. and Mrs.
William B. DeLong of Clinton. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peissig
of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Geiger of Dorchester and William DeLong of
Clinton.
