Frank Morgal was born in Mirna Pec, Jugoslavia, January 13, 1875. He came to Cleveland, Ohio in 1897 where he was employed in a factory for 2 years. Then in 1901 he went to Ely, Minnesota where he worked in the iron mines.

Margaret (Plutt) Morgal was born June 11, 1880 in Krivavskaga Urha, Post Semic, Jugoslavia. She came to Ely, Minnesota in 1901. On October 1, 1902 they were married at Saint Anthony's Church in Ely.

Three children were born to them in Ely: Mary, Emily and Margaret. In 1908 they moved to Albany, Minnesota where they farmed for five years. A son, Frank, was born in Albany. In 1914 they moved to Willard where they set¬tled on an 80 acre farm. Another daughter, Amy, was born here in Willard.

Farming was rough in those early days. Dairying was a real ordeal. There was no one to tell you how to do things. One incident I remember was Dad telling us where a calf was born in the pasture. After living in the woods for about three weeks or so, it came home with the cows. Very wild, but somehow he was chased in the barn and tied up. The next day, he was loaded up on a buggy in a calf crate and Dad was on the way to Willard to sell the calf. But after going about a mile from home the calf broke out of the crate and ran into the woods. Well, Dad came home empty handed thinking he would never see that calf again. But a couple of days later that calf once again found his way and came home with the herd of cows.

They lived in Willard the rest of their lives and farmed, increasing their farm first to 80 acres then 160 and then 320 acres.

They belonged to the Holy Family Church in Willard. Frank Morgal passed away July 9,1954. Margaret Morgal passed away February 25, 1970. They are buried at Holy Family Cemetery. Of their five children Mary Ehlers and Emily are deceased, the rest are retired and live in Willard.
